The Villas at Cattail Creek is an active adult community for residents 55 and over in western Howard County, Maryland. The community is located in Glenwood, where residents can enjoy the quiet of a rural setting while still being close to the suburban communities of Olney, Ellicott City, and Columbia. Nearby highways and Interstate 70 also make it easy for those who wish to spend a day in Baltimore or Washington or who want to fly from Baltimore/Washington International Airport to distant destinations around the country or the globe.

Our Surroundings

The community lies adjacent to Cattail Creek Country Club and offers spectacular views of sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights. VCC is also five minutes from the Gary J. Arthur Community Center, the Glenwood 50+ Center, the Glenwood Library, and some excellent restaurants and farmers’ markets. This rare combination makes it an ideal setting for those who wish to have the best of both rural and suburban life.

The VCC community features 93 homes, all of which have a primary suite with a bedroom and bath and a laundry room on the first floor. A clubhouse with a catering kitchen is used for regularly scheduled activities hosted by residents, and it is available for rental by owners for private events.

In addition, open outdoor spaces offer ample opportunities for walking, running, biking, or simply resting on benches to chat with neighbors. A home in the community is an excellent choice for those who still enjoy being active but hope to age in place.

When we drove through the gate at VCC for the first time, we loved how beautiful the community looked. It was open and spacious with tree lined streets. We were also impressed with the small size of the community. As we drove around, neighbors came out and talked to us while others waved. We loved the house, but we were more interested in this friendly neighborhood. Neighbors really do care about neighbors. We also enjoy all the activities in our community. We have parties, clubs, movies and more. We enjoy our daily walks around our neighborhood and chatting with friends. We hit the jackpot moving here.

Here, in our neighborhood, one rarely meets a stranger! An active, welcoming, and caring community, there is something for everyone…a variety of activities…socials, bridge, crafts, a movie night, to say nothing of wonderful friendships. There is something at the Villas for everyone! It is here that we have found our truly happy place!

I feel so safe here. My neighbors are always eager to help, whether I need a ride to a medical procedure, to borrow equipment for a visiting grandchild, or to get advice about home repairs. Requests or questions posted on our active Google group usually receive multiple immediate responses. The neighborhood is so peaceful. I feel like my blood pressure must drop as soon as I enter the gates. I love how close we are to the wonderful senior center and library.

The community at Cattail Creek is warm and friendly. I love that you can be as active and involved as you want, or not. I found that most people in the community have had rigorous careers and are now enjoying a well-deserved, safe, beautiful environment to spend our post-retirement years. People here watch out for each other ,and there is a deep caring for one another that isn’t found in many places. Finally, the view from every window in our homes is simply breathtaking. I couldn’t ask for more.

We looked long and hard for our next community, anticipating retirement. The first place we looked at was VCC. We continued to look but always came back, and there was no comparison from the other neighborhoods we considered. We were very fortunate to buy in VCC and feel gratitude every day since. Not only is the neighborhood visually appealing with space and green vistas, but the people are so wonderful. We felt at home immediately and every day since with a warm welcome that has transpired into friendships, neighborly support and genuine care for one another.
